WHY AIM HIGH?
It's a phrase that suggests archery or rocket ships--shooting for the stars. Aim High Music Therapy was built on the belief that every one of us has the potential to succeed. That all of us can become more than our circumstances.
Aiming High means hope, as well as hard work. It means making the most of strengths instead of only focusing on challenges. And for us, it means finding the creativity to make things change for the better.
WHAT IS MUSIC THERAPY?
“Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.”
~The American Music Therapy Association
“Music Therapy is the specialized use of music by a credentialed professional… to address social, communication, emotional, physical, cognitive, sensory and spiritual needs.”
~The Certification Board of Music Therapists
Our mission is to promote joyful and successful learning and creative problem solving through music therapy. We believe in making music accessible to children and adults who have developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, sensory processing disorders, giftedness, and other health/wellness needs in the Salt Lake Valley. We celebrate the unique character and qualities of each individual and family we serve. We empower individuals to develop and use the strengths they already have in order to find unique solutions to everyday challenges in school, at work, at home, and in the community. At Aim High Music Therapy, we emphasize giving back to the community through outreach and volunteer projects. We strive to provide research based and convenient music therapy services in homes and facilities throughout the area. We believe that joy is part of learning, and our mission is to enable individuals to find that joy in whatever stage of growth they are currently in.
